The Lagos Life governor election, explained
One of the wildest things about Lagos Life: the city is run by players. A player-elected governor sets policy that affects everyone in the game — and campaigning has become its own sport.
What the government looks like
According to Condia, the game has a term-limited governor, commissioners for health, transport, works and finance, and a senator who also serves as president.
How voting works
Community sites describe the process like this (not confirmed by the developer):
- Elections run on a weekly cycle.
- You vote at Polling Unit 001 on the map, and results are counted live.
- From around 3 October, only accounts that are at least a day old with 2+ days of play can vote.
- From around 5 October, a candidate can only run for one office at a time.
The game's terms ban creating extra accounts to vote more than once — so no rigging.
What the governor actually controls
The winner's policies apply to the whole city. One example headline shared on a fan site: "Transport subsidy is law this week." Community guides also report that elected officials get a daily allowance.
Why it matters to you
Policy changes can affect what you pay and earn. It's worth checking who's running and what they promise before you vote.
Running yourself?
Build a following first. The players who win tend to be the ones people already know from the in-game chat and social media.
